@sharing.lov3 UPDATE: ADOPTED ?????????? Today I was volunteering at the shelter, and right before I was about to leave, I came across Rocky lying quietly in his kennel with two stuffed animals beside him. I looked at his kennel card and realized he had just been brought in that day. His family had surrendered him. His kennel card said he’s good with dogs, cats, and kids… and he’s housebroken. He looked so sad that I decided to take him outside for a walk, hoping I could make his day just a little bit better… But little did I know he was about to break my heart even more. ???? The entire time we were outside, he barely paid any attention to me. He didn’t care about treats or exploring. He just stood there, staring through the fence into the parking lot… looking around… waiting… hoping his family would come back for him. How do I tell him they’re never coming back? ???????? Rocky is only a little over a year old. What makes his story even more heartbreaking is that he was adopted from this very shelter when he was just a puppy. It’s almost his gotcha day… almost one year since the day his family took him home. Instead of celebrating that anniversary, they brought him back because they’re moving and said they couldn’t take him with them…???? Then I found out something that made my heart sink even more. This is actually Rocky’s third time at the shelter. Before this family adopted him, someone else had adopted him as a puppy too. They returned him because their resident dog didn’t get along with him. Even after everything he’s been through, Rocky is still the sweetest boy. He showed me how to sit and shake, and all he wanted was someone to notice him. Before I left, I made him a promise. I promised him that together, we would find him a family. This time… a family that will never, ever leave him behind. ?? #doberman #dog #rescue #sad #heartbreak

@sharing.lov3 Replying to @Sharing Lov3 ????????ROCKY’S FREEDOM RIDE ???????? The other day, I was volunteering at the shelter, and right before I left, I came across a heartbroken Doberman lying on his bed. I noticed he had just been surrendered that very same day, only a couple of hours earlier. ???? I decided to take him outside to see if I could cheer him up, but he didn’t connect with me at all. He spent the entire time searching for his family. ???????? I put him back in his kennel and promised I would post his video and find him a new family. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that would happen the very next day. At midnight, I received an email from a man saying he was already in his car, driving from New Jersey to Atlanta. He had 800 miles to drive, but hoped to be at the shelter first thing in the morning. 13 hours later, there he was. ?????? With a brand new leash, collar, bed, and a heart full of love for Rocky. When I went to tell Rocky the good news, he was sleeping. I took him outside and he was already a completely different dog. He was jumping with excitement when he saw me. I truly believe he knew. He knew what was about to happen. ???? After the paperwork was completed, Rocky walked out of the shelter doors and into his new life. His dad has a huge fenced-in backyard in New Jersey, a home in Florida for vacations, and Rocky will be his only dog. He is going to be SO spoiled. ?? The next day, his dad sent me a video of Rocky looking through an open field, looking happier than ever. He told me Rocky did amazing on the long car ride and that everyone already adores him. This is the power of sharing one video of one shelter dog. ???? To everyone who shared, commented, and prayed for Rocky, YOU are part of this freedom ride. I couldn’t do this without you. That’s why I always say… IT TAKES A VILLAGE. ?? ???? HAPPINESS LOOKS SO GOOD ON YOU ROCKY ?????? ddobermanhhappyddogrrescuestory
